Ready to roll up your sleeves and make a real difference in our community? Join us for Build Better Day at the Lin-Wood skate park.
What’s the goal? We’re coming together to revitalize the space around the skate park, making it more accessible, enjoyable, and beautiful for everyone.
When can you lend a hand?
- Friday, May 16: 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM
- Saturday, May 17: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
What exciting projects will we be tackling?
- Asphalt Removal & Grading: We’ll be ripping out old asphalt to create a smoother, more usable area. (Heavy equipment and operators welcome!)
- Loam & Seeding: Help us lay down fresh loam, spread grass seed, and cover it with hay to create green spaces on the east and west sides of the park. (Rakes and shovels encouraged.)
- Parking Area Barrier: We’re installing a fence to clearly define the parking area. (Volunteers needed for digging post holes and pouring concrete.)
- Brick Paver Cleanup: Let’s get those pathways looking their best by weed-whacking the brick pavers leading to the pavilion. (Bring your weed wacker.)
- Stone Walkway Creation: We’ll be moving excess stone to build charming walkways from the parking area to the fence. (Shovels and strong backs appreciated)
- General Cleanup: Every little bit helps! Grab a trash bag and let’s tidy up the park.
- Back Wall Clearing: We’ll be cutting back saplings and brush to clear the area above the back wall. (Bring your shears, clippers and rakes.)
- Roadside Entrance Enhancement: We’re placing large boulders to block and beautify the second roadside entrance. (Tractor expertise a plus!)
- Community Board Box: Help us build a covered box where skaters can share equipment. (Carpentry skills welcome!)
- Bike Rack Construction: We’re creating a dedicated space for bike parking. (More building hands needed!)
What do we need? We are seeking donations of:
- Truckloads of loam
- Split rail fence and posts
- Grass seed
- Bags of concrete
- Bike rack donation (or lumber)
- Lumber for Board Box
